Now that you’ve joined the SSP Guild, you should have received your exclusive subscription gift plates of stamps, including Dragonfly Dreams. This is a versatile collection of dragonfly designs, which co-ordinate beautifully when used together. In case you’re short of ideas, here we show you how to make three lovely cards and a tag with your new stamps.

Stamps used: Dragonfly Dreams Guild (part of your Subscription Gifts)

You will also need:

Layered Flowers

layered flowers
  1. Measure and fold a standard C6 pink pearlescent card.
  2. Stamp the Daisy panel in Crimson ink on to the heart backing paper and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Sponge on a little Tea Dye ink to distress the image.
  3. Trim on three sides and tear along the bottom. Mount on to pink card, also trimmed on three sides and torn along the bottom.
  4. layered flowers 2

  5. Dip the edges of the pink card into embossing ink and then gold embossing powder. Heat to set and then mount onto gold mirror card – tear this along the bottom, too. Add to the main card.
  6. Tear a strip of the heart paper to fit across the bottom of the card, and sponge with Tea Dye ink. Stamp it with Dragonfly Dreams, then stick it on the card, below the flower panel.
  7. Stamp wording on one of the chipboard labels using Crimson ink and then clear emboss it, by patting embossing ink over the entire surface and applying the clear powder before heating with a heat tool.
  8. Run a gold Krylon pen around the edges and mount on to gold mirror card with sticky foam pads. Add to the card.

Dragonfly Panels

Dragonfly Panels
  1. Punch out three of the square chippies and stamp a small dragonfly on each in black ink. Heat set with clear embossing powder. Sponge a little Crimson ink on each one and edge with gold embossing powder.
  2. Stamp the wording on to a cream C6 card in Tattered Rose and Crimson inks.
  3. Draw round one of the larger frames on to the K&Co paper and cut out. Stick this in the centre of the main card.
  4. Mount the three squares on to this panel with sticky foam pads.
  5. Punch out small and medium daisies from the K&Co pad. Layer these up and secure with brads.
  6. Add the flowers as shown, top left and lower right of the main panel.

Scattered Frames

Scattered Frames

  1. Stamp the main dragonfly image diagonally in Crimson on to a standard C6 pink card. Make sure the image is in the top section, but slightly to the right hand side. This slight offsetting will achieve a more balance layout when you add the layered flowers.

  2. Scattered 2

  3. Punch out two chipboard frames and two small centres. Sponge Crimson ink on the larger one and the heat set the ink. Stamp and gold emboss the wording randomly around the edge.
  4. Cover the smaller frame with Crimson ink and then heat set with two layers of clear embossing powder. Take the centre from this one and sponge with Crimson ink. Overstamp this with a small dragonfly and then heat set with clear embossing powder.
  5. Take the smallest chipboard square and stamp with the dragonfly wing pattern. Punch a hole in one corner and then cover the square with two or three layers of clear embossing powder.
  6. Draw around the inside of the smaller frame on to a piece of white shrink plastic. Stamp this with the small dragonfly.

NOTE - you will need to use a different type of ink for this, such as Distress Ink, as VersaFine, does not dry on Shrink plastic. Sand the plastic until it is smooth and then use Fired Brick Distress ink.

  7. Punch a hole in one corner of the shrink plastic and then heat it to shrink. Attach it to the small chipboard square with a piece of gold wire.

    Scattered 3
  8. Layer up the pieces as shown and fix in place with strong glue.

    Scattered 4
  9. Punch seven or eight daisies with the largest punch and layer together with a brad. Add to the top right of the card.
  10. Tear a strip of red paper and attach it across the bottom section of the card.

Tag

Tag 1

  1. Use a tag cut from dark pink card. This one was cut using a Sizzix die, but you could easily draw and cut round an existing tag.
  2. Glue a strip of torn pink mulberry paper across the tag, then sponge the edges with Tea Dye ink.
  3. Stamp and gold emboss the main dragonfly image as shown, towards the top right of the tag. Stamp the verse on the left hand side of the tag in Tea Dye ink.

    Tag 2
  4. Stamp and gold emboss two sets of wings on to the pink card and cut out. Stick over the dragonfly wings, but just use glue at the central wing tips. Add some glitter glue.

    Tag 3
  5. The spiral flourish was also cut from a Sizzix die, but you can get various pre cut swirls and flourishes if you prefer. Stamp it with the wing pattern and add a little gold embossing powder. Stick it on to the bottom of the tag.

    Tag 4
  6. Add a gold eyelet to the centre bottom of the tag and thread through a length of wire. Twist the ends together, thread on some beads and then spiral the loose ends with a pair of pliers.

    Tag 5
  7. Add some ribbon through the hole at the top of the tag and staple it to the card.Dragonfly Dreams
  8. The finished artwork! SSP

avatar The colours are just sooooo well --- PINK! but I love them. I'm not normally
too enamoured with pink. So thats another few distress ink pads I need. Thanks
Penny! Really lovely techniques and I just can't wait to have a go.

your comfort zone! Thanks for all the positive feedback, I really do appreciate
it.
