You’ll have Christmas all wrapped up with this quick and easy background paper technique that looks anything but when used to make cards, a simple candle decoration and tags or parcel decorations. The resulting paper has a lovely soft sheen, which gives a very elegant feel.
Decorating the Paper We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Now for the four easy steps: - It’s easiest to work in A6 size pieces in the beginning, so cut an A6 piece of white card. Scrunch a piece of cling film into a loose ball and dab it into the yellow ink pad to pick up some ink. Press the cling film to the card to transfer the ink and repeat until the card is roughly covered.
- Using a new piece of cling film, repeat this process with the Butterscotch ink pad and then rub lightly all over with the film to smudge the ink for a softer look.
- Repeat step 2 with the gold ink and smudge again lightly.
- Stamp the Mistletoe and Wine script all over the card in the Red Pepper ink, starting in the top left hand corner and stamping in rows.
On to the projects using this paper… Christmas Tree We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Step by Step: - Prepare a piece of decorated paper with the A6 white card using the same inks, but stamping the Script on with the Bottle Green ink.
 - Stamp the Script image on to an A5 size piece of each of the two green shades of card using the Bottle ink. Allow to dry.
- Stamp the Snowy Tree twice on the deep green card and once on the mid green card using the embossing ink pad, then emboss with the gold powder. An anti-static bag was not used here as the slight sprinkle of gold adds to the effect, but you could use one if you prefer a pristine look.
- Cut the trees out as follows:
- cut one deep green tree out completely, leaving a border round the bottom section but cutting closer on the top sections. - Cut out the two top sections on the mid green tree, leaving a border round the lower section but not the top. - From the second deep green tree, cut out just the top section leaving a border round the image. - Stamp the greeting on to ivory card and emboss with gold powder. Trim to a rectangle and mount on a panel of green card, leaving a narrow green border.
 - To assemble the card, stick the decorated paper to the top half of the card and stick a piece of gold braid across as shown. Stick the layers of the tree together with foam tape for a three-dimensional look and stick the greeting panel in the lower left hand corner.
Holly Spray Diagonal We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Step by Step: - Prepare an A6 size piece of decorated paper as described and cut in half diagonally to give a triangle shape. Stick the triangle to the card blank as shown.
- Stamp just the flower from the Holly Spray on to a scrap piece of the red and gold decorated paper with black ink. Cut out when dry, leaving a narrow border all round.
- Stamp just the holly leaves from the Spray on to the green stamped card left over from the tree card, again with black ink. Cut out as for the flower.
 - Stick a piece of the gold peel-off border down the diagonal edge of the decorated paper. Mount the holly spray to the card as shown, using foam tape and add highlights with red glitter glue.
Glittered Holly Spray We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Step by Step: - Prepare an A6 size piece of decorated paper, using Lettuce ink in place of the Butterscotch and Bottle in place of the Red Pepper. Cut the piece in half landscape wise when dry.
 - Stick the decorated paper to the left half of the A6 card blank arranged landscape fashion. Attach a piece of gold ribbon across the top of the decorated paper.
- Stamp the Holly Spray on ivory card with black waterproof dye ink. When dry, paint the image with the watercolour pencils. When this has dried, paint over the top with the Diamond glitter glue.
 - Cut the stamped panel into a rectangle and round the corners. Mount to a panel of green card. Attach to the card with foam tape to finish.
Note: This card can also be used in a landscape format with the Holly Spray at the top.
Poinsettia Candle We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Step By Step: - Measure your candle round the circumference and cut a strip of white cardstock about 2cm longer and 4cm wide.
- Decorate the strip as for the decorated paper, stamping the Script horizontally along the card.
 - Stick the decorated strip round the candle, securing the end with double- sided tape.
 - Stamp the poinsettia flower only from the Holly Spray on to red and gold leftover decorated paper with black ink. Cut out when dry and stick to red velvet paper. Cut out again to leave a red border. Decorate with glitter glue.
- When dry, stick the flower to the decorated candle band.
Tree Tag We used:(Don't forget your 10% Guild Members Discount at The Stamp Bug!) Step by Step: - Stamp the tree on the two shades of green stamped cardstock, two on one shade and one on the other, embossing them all with gold powder. Cut out as before.
- Stamp a piece of the red cardstock with the Script image using the Cranberry ink. Cut out an oval shape to fit the tree image. Punch a hole at the top.
 - Layer the tree together as before using foam tape. Mount on the oval tag with foam tape.

- Tie a selection of ribbons and fibres at the top to finish.
The finished set!
Well, that’s a good start to making the Christmas cards!
