Transform a treasured family photograph into a beautiful piece of wall art in a vintage style and gorgeous warm colours using the new Artifacts Alpine unmounted stamps. These versatile stamps have also been used to make a duo of cards with lots of texture and the same warm colour scheme as the canvas.
Use the unmounted stamps with EZ Mount foam and an acrylic block. Vintage Floral Canvas We used: Step by Step: - Paint your canvas with the Peach Bellini paint until roughly covered. When dry, paint over the top with the Salmon paint dabber. This will not give perfect coverage as we are aiming for a softer, vintage look. Set aside to dry completely.
- Cut a piece of linen card just over 1cm larger all round than your chosen photograph. Rub Antique Linen Distress ink in a wide band around the edges. There is no need to ink the entire card as your photograph will cover up most of it. Stamp the Text all round the edges in the Worn Lipstick ink and smudge whilst still wet for a soft look.
 - Chose one of the Alpine Flowers and stamp it round the edges with the VersaFine Crimson Red ink. Smudge more of the ink round the edges. Smudge a little extra Worn Lipstick ink on to deepen the colours a little.
- The size of the central floral band will depend on the size of your canvas. Ours is 20cm square so we cut a 10cm square of the linen card. Sponge the card with the Shabby Shutters Distress ink. Stamp a variety of the Alpine Flowers on the card using the VersaColor cubes and the VersaFine red ink.
 - Take the painted canvas and stamp the Text all over in the Worn Lipstick ink. Smudge the ink whilst still wet. Stamp the same design as chosen for the photo panel all over the canvas with the Worn Lipstick ink and smudge lightly.
- Mount your chosen photograph on the red and pink floral panel and mount to a dark green panel to leave a narrow border.
 - Rub a little more Green Tea ink on the green floral panel. Trim the panel along the top with the deckle scissors, following the outline of the stamped flowers. Decide where you are going to mount the photo panel on the canvas and cut the green floral panel vertically so that it will fit on each side of the photo. Refer to the photograph of the canvas if you're confused!
- Adhere the green floral panels on each side of the canvas as shown and stick the photo panel over the top.
Tip: You will need to choose a canvas that will fit your chosen photo comfortably and allow some extra room for the decorative floral panels. Our photo was trimmed to 10.5 by 14.5cm and the canvas is 20cm square. If your photo is smaller, you could use a smaller canvas or make the floral panels larger in proportion to the photo. If you didn’t want to use a family photo, you could use a lovely photo of a flower from your garden or print out your favourite poem. Alpine Meadow Card We used: Step By Step: - Cut a piece of linen card to 15cm square and sponge Antique Linen Distress Ink all over. Stamp randomly with the Text stamp using Spiced Marmalade ink and smudge lightly. Choose two of the Alpine Meadow stamps and stamp randomly on the inked card with the Paprika and Amethyst inks.
- Tear the edges of the floral square and smudge with ink. Emboss with the copper embossing powder.
- Cut a piece of corrugated card to 7.5 by 12cm and paint with the Peach Bellini paint, then the Salmon. You will need to use a brush to paint in the grooves. When dry, tear off the bottom at a slight angle and smudge on some Aged Mahogany ink.
- Take a small scrap of linen card measuring 4.5 by 6cm and sponge with the Antique Linen ink. Stamp on the Text with the Spiced Marmalade ink and smudge. Sponge on a little more of the orange ink to deepen the colour. Choose a flower and stamp on using the Crimson Red ink. Rub ink round the edges and emboss with the copper powder.
- Cut a scrap of dark red card to measure 5.5 by 9cm and stamp the text all over. Emboss with the copper powder. Emboss the edges with the copper powder as before.
 - To assemble the card, stick the torn floral square to the card blank. Adhere the small floral panel at the top of the dark red text panel and then stick this to the painted corrugated card. Mount at the left hand side of the card.
Alpine Floral Card We used: Step by Step - Cut a strip of linen card measuring 7.5 by 20.5cm and sponge with the Antique Linen ink. Stamp the Text on with Worn Lipstick ink, working from side to side as you stamp down the card.
 - Stamp on one of the Alpine Flowers in Crimson Red ink, also working from side to side so that the flower heads are stamped in the spaces on each side. Sponge on a little more pink ink to deepen the colour slightly. Trim the long edges with the deckle edged scissors.
- Cut a further piece of linen card, measuring 10.5 by 8.5cm and sponge with Shabby Shutters ink. Stamp the Text design all over in Green Tea ink. Emboss the panel using the textile folder.
- Cut a piece of linen card measuring 4.5 by 10cm and sponge with Antique Linen ink as before. Stamp the Text down the panel in Worn Lipstick ink and smudge whilst still wet.
- Stamp the chosen flower in the centre with Crimson Red ink and stamp the Text design over the stalk in the same ink. Rub the edges with the red ink, then smudge a little on the panel to deepen the colour.
- Mount the small floral panel on dark green and then copper card, leaving narrow border each time.
 - To assemble the card, stick the large floral panel on the left side of the card. Stick the green embossed panel across the card and mount the smaller floral panel as shown.
