We all know how difficult it can be to find the time to craft or do the ironing! We have been looking at it from the wrong angle! Here Penny crafts us a clock so we can actually make the time to craft!
We used: Step by step - Cut to random shapes from the chipboard piece(s). Cut a zigzag shape down one edge of each piece. Our pieces measure approximately 14 x 28cm and 20 x 14cm.
 - Paint one side of each piece with gesso and go over the surface with a sponge as soon as it’s covered to give it some texture and to get rid of brush strokes.
  - Leave to dry, then paint with the terracotta emulsion and use the sponge again. At this point, you can stamp into the surface of the paint if you like. It’s only a very subtle effect, but it all adds to the overall design.
- When the paint is dry, apply gold and copper Rub-ons with your finger. If you stamped into the paint, you can highlight your images now with the Rub-ons.
 - Tear strips of mulberry paper and stamp with the Text, Swirls and Dots using the embossing ink pad. Gold emboss the images, then stick the paper on to the chipboard as shown.
 - Scrunch up the strip of felt and wind fibres and wire tightly around it. Add a dab of glue to secure any loose ends.
 - Glue the strip to the chipboard as shown, using strong glue such as Superglue gel. Set aside.
- Colour the silver side of the CD with Alcohol Inks. Do this by attaching a felt pad to the Applicator Tool, then apply drops of the ink to it. Use this to apply the ink to the CD. Over stamp with the Clock and Swirl images using black VersaFine ink.
- Cut out a circle of the clock print paper and sponge with Distress ink. Cut a smaller circle, make a hole in the centre and triple emboss with gold embossing powder. Stick the two circles on to the CD.
- Cover the numbers with embossing ink and then sprinkle with three layers of gold and black embossing powder, heating with a heat tool between each layer. Stick the embossed numbers around the CD edges as shown.
 - Cover the Grungeboard arrows with black ink. We used the swirl background arrows ones, but any will work well. Add a little of the gold Rub-ons to highlight the swirls.
 - Cut two lengths of black wire, approximately 35cm each. Add some Superglue Gel to the end of the feather and add a couple of beads. Thread one end of the wire through one of the beads and spiral the end.
 - Thread more beads on to the wire to a length of about 8cm. Wrap the end round a BBQ stick, leaving a length of about 5cm at the end to attach to the clock kit. Repeat with the other pieces of wire.
 - Arrange all the clock pieces, then punch holes in the chipboard for the clock mechanism. Stick the two chipboard pieces together, as shown, using sticky foam pads. Unscrew the centrepiece of the clock kit and place the chipboard pieces on it.
 - Twist the loose ends of the black wire ‘danglies’ around the centre spindle.
 - Put about three layers of sticky foam tape on the back of the CD where it will meet the backing. Add the CD and tighten up the locking ring to fix the mechanism securely.
- Now you need to punch holes in each arrow. Check with the hands that come in the kit, to see which way up they go and what size the holes are. It is important that the Grungeboard arrows sit exactly where the metal hands would be and that they are fairly tight.
- Assemble the hands and finish off with the second hand.
- Hang your clock on the wall! You may need to adjust the back fitting of the clock to ensure it hangs straight. Once you have established this, you can put a couple of sticky foam pads to hold it in place.
Who said there is no time to craft!
