You don’t have to always make cards out of actual card. Acetate makes a really good basis for a project, although there are a couple of things you need to know about first. If you intend to emboss or otherwise use a heat tool, you must make sure that you have heatproof acetate before you start, otherwise you will produce a very interesting but lumpy piece of art! Also, to make sure it will stand up properly, the acetate needs to be fairly sturdy. Finally, you will need to think carefully about your composition and layout, as there will be two visible layers to interact with each other. The easiest way to do this is to assemble all your bits and pieces before sticking anything down...
Dream a Little Dream We used: Step by Step: - Cut and fold the acetate into a standard C6 shaped card.
- Cut a piece of backing paper to fit on the inside and stamp it with the Alpine Flora and Sepia ink. Glue on to the inside of the card, using clear dry glue, such as Glossy Accents.
- Stamp the ‘Dream’ sentiment on a piece of the backing paper and tear out, leaving a small gap at each end, then add a gem at either end.
 - Stamp the Woman’s Face on to cream card and heat set the ink. Swipe the image with embossing ink and add two or three layers of clear embossing powder. Cut out the central portion and run the gold Krylon pen around the edges. Add sticky foam pads to the back.
- Layer the image on to script paper and then red card. Layer two flowers together and secure with a brad.
- Arrange the items until you have a pleasing composition and then stick everything in place. You can punch a hole in the acetate to fix the flower brad if you like.
Paint and Paper We used: Step by Step: - Cut and fold the acetate into a tall card. Tear a strip of the paper and glue it on to the inside.
- Apply the paints to the card front. Let the layers dry in between and keep adding till you are happy with the effect.
 - When dry, stamp the Script over it several times with the Black StazOn ink.
- Paint the chipboard shape with Cranberry paint. Stamp the flourish on it with embossing ink and then gold emboss. Fix to the acetate with sticky foam pads.
- Secure two flowers with a decorative brad, punch a hole in the acetate and fix it in place.
Elegant Swirls We used: Step by Step: - Cut and fold the acetate.
 - Cut a piece of Magenta paper to fit inside. Stamp and gold emboss with the Long Swirls. Add part of a flourish from the rub on sheet to the bottom left hand corner.
 - Add another part of the rub on sheet to the front of the acetate as shown.
 - Stamp the Square pattern on to black shrink plastic with copper ink. Cut out the image, then punch a small hole in one corner and heat to shrink. Add a bead or a small charm to the tile attaching it using wire.
- Stamp and copper emboss the Square pattern on to a piece of red card. Cut out and layer on to first copper, and then cream card. Stick on to the acetate with Glossy Accents.
- Add a sticky heart to the bottom right hand corner.
