By Jane Pinder Diamond Fold Card
Our Fancy Fold this month would make a great note card or invitation as there is space on the inside for adding dates and times etc. On the other hand, it would make a pretty good greeting card as well!
So, we’ll start by trimming down a 12 x 12 sheet of paper to measure 11 x 11 inches.
- Then fold the square diagonally.
- Score this triangle at 5.5 inches in from either end on the long side.
- Turn it over and score again at 3 inches in from either end on the long side.
- Now score at 3.5 inches down from the top of the triangle.
- Crease well along all the score lines.
- You will see where the scored lines cross on either side and form a triangle. Trim out this triangular part on either side.
- Take the 3.5 inch score line, on one side, and open it out to form a diamond.
- Repeat this on the other side.
- Fold the two sides in, then fold the top flap down and tuck the point into the front diamond to hold the card closed.
- So that’s the basic fold, now you can have fun decorating the card! I have made this one into a New Home card, so there is plenty of space inside for the new address to be written.
- Start with the inside and cut a piece of contrasting card slightly smaller than the inside of the folded card. Then cut a piece of white card slightly smaller again. Stamp up the white card with your chosen design.
- Use double-sided tape to attach the white, stamped card to the contrasting card.
- Attach these cards to the inside of the folded card.
- Stamp up your image for the left hand diamond, trim it and layer it onto the same colour of contrasting card used for the inside panel. Attach this centrally to the left hand diamond. This panel wants to be smaller than the one you will make for the right hand diamond.
- Now make the panel for the right hand diamond, making it larger than the panel on the first diamond.
Simply tuck the point of the top flap into the front diamond and your card is all ready to go! I am sure you’ll have no end of fun with this fold. Let us see what you make this pretty fold!
