by Jennie Atkinson In the last issue of Guilded we had the first part of the projects from Jennie. Here we follow on with some more wonderfully inspiring ideas. CD Holiday Book It is quite common these days to hold our holiday photographs on a CD rather than within a photograph album, but it is all too easy for them to get lost. I regularly make these little holiday books to keep the CD safe. The flaps provide the perfect place to add photos as a reminder of what is on the CD. The CD label can be decorated with stamps and StazOn inks.
We Used: Step by Step: To make the cover: - Cut one 12.5 x 30cm and two 14 x 12cm pieces of buff cardstock. Score lines on the large piece across the short width 9.5cm from the top, 10cm from the top and 7.5cm from the bottom. On each of the smaller pieces, score a line across the short width at 2.5cm.
- Adhere the flaps of the shorter pieces to either side of the middle section of the large piece. The completed piece should resemble a cross, with the shortest flap at the bottom. Score and fold all creases. Round off all outside corners with a paper punch.
To decorate: - Lower flap - Cover the smallest flap on the inside and the outside with patterned paper. Using the two smallest Nestabilities Die Labels, cut one in cream and one in brown. Adhere to inside right hand of the lower flap.
 - Top Flap - Stamp the poem in brown ink in the top left hand corner. Adhere a small strip of torn dictionary paper across the flap bottom and a layer a 1.25cm strip of patterned paper over the edge. Matt a photograph on brown cardstock and adhere to right hand side of flap.
- Right Hand Flap - Stamp the small tower in brown ink in the right hand bottom corner. Again add a small strip of torn dictionary paper and patterned paper down the left hand side of the flap. Matt a photograph on brown cardstock and adhere in top left hand corner of the flap.
- Left Hand Flap - Tear a piece of dictionary paper 5.5cm wide and adhere to left hand side of flap. Cut a strip of buff cardstock 3.5 x 11.5cm and stamp the Tower and Text stamp in brown ink on the outside edges of the card. Sponge Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink around the edges and adhere over the dictionary paper. Matt the photograph on brown cardstock and adhere to centre right of the stamped towers. Using brown ink stamp “ooh la la” under the photograph.
 - CD: Using brown ink stamp the small Tower and “I Love Paris ...” stamp directly onto the CD. Taking the large brad, either fold in or cut off the prongs on the back and pack the area with Glue Dots and adhere to middle of the central flap. Alternatively stick a small button in the centre with Tacky PVA Glue.
- Front Cover: Matt one of the stamped watercolour pieces created in the same way as the card above onto brown cardstock and using double-sided tape adhere to the right hand side of the front flap.
(((pic 4156))) - Centre and adhere ribbon across the back of the cover so that the ribbon can tie just above the bottom of the flap. Finish by adhering two paper flowers and a central brad to the left of the stamped image, but above the line of the ribbon.
- To fold: Fold side flaps in, bottom flap up and top flap down. Tie ribbon to close the book.
NB: The side flaps will need to take quite a bit of wear and the linen cardstock I used started to split where I had gently scored it for folding. Additional patterned paper and torn dictionary paper can be adhered from the back of the cover over the sides to prevent this wear. Cut patterned paper 3.5 x 11.5cm. Adhere over 2.5cm flaps at rear of cover and wrap around to the front. When decorating the CD case keep all pieces as flat as possible otherwise the case will not fold, i.e. no foam pads, flowers, etc. 8 x 8 Scrapbook Layout
I love this photograph taken by my daughter in law of my son whilst on holiday in Paris last year, but there was a lot of “clutter” in the photograph. Cropping it to 4” x 4” it made a lovely photograph and an ideal size for an 8” x 8” layout. I love doing collage style pages as it is great for using up scraps of paper and card and the stamps I used from the set were also ideal for a smaller layout. I know we have flitted from cm to inches but the page layout is 8 x 8 inches! We used: Step by Step: - Cut cream cardstock to 8” x 8”. Cut one sheet of paper to 7¾” x 7¾” and your main paper to 7½” x 7½”.
- Place the Tim Holtz mask in the top right hand corner of the main paper (7½” x 7½”) and blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink over the mask and around the edges of the paper blending the colour out so that the strongest colour is over the mask. When dry adhere the two paper squares to the cream cardstock (see photo 005).
- Cut five further pieces from the co-ordinating paper: From paper 1: 7” x 2”, 3½” x 3”, 4½” x 1” From paper 2: 3” x 4” From paper 3: 7” x 1.2” Ink all the edges with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink (see photo 010)
 - Stamp the small Eiffel Tower stamp in the right hand corner of the piece measuring 4” x 3” with the brown ink.
- Set three eyelets in the top left hand corner of the piece measuring 7” x 2”.
 - Using the narrow double-sided tape, adhere ribbon to the piece measuring 7” x ½”
- Adhere all the pieces to the main background with double-sided tape (see photo 003)
- Crop photograph to 4” x 4” (or similar size) and mat onto brown card. Using foam pads, adhere to page slightly left of centre.
- Using the Cuttlebug die cut a small tag in chipboard and again from the main background paper. Adhere both together and stamp the tag with the “I love Paris in the Springtime” with the brown ink. Add ribbon to the tag and adhere to page with double-sided tape. Decorate with a paper flower and button.
 - Add three matching brads to the right of the photograph. Stamp the Postage Stamp onto cream card with the Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and attach to the bottom right hand of the collage with a small French coin.
