by Mickie Sutcliffe
Butterfly Kisses 1

This pretty butterfly plate and the gorgeous colours combine to make this a winning card.

Mickie has worked her magic with both!

This card would suit all ages and most occasions so why not make several in one sitting, perhaps with variations in colour schemes?

We used:

Step by Step:

  1. Line the back of the front of the card on the inside with Post It notes so that the whole of the card is covered. The sticky edge of the Post Its should be along the outer edges of the card to form a seal of sorts. Also mask off the outside back of the card where it meets the front of the card along the fold, using Post It notes with their sticky side to the fold. This keeps the card clean as you work with the inks.
  2. Ink up brayer with Waterfall ink and run off most of it onto copier paper, then brayer over the front of the card.
  3. While you have the brayer inked, run it over the card scrap a few times.
  4. Stamp the Clover flower, using the greeny blue end of the Waterfall pad, stamping it randomly over the front of the card. Take the small Butterfly and the blue end of the Waterfall ink pad and stamp into the gaps on the front of the card.
  5. Using ink from the blue end of the Waterfall pad ink up and stamp the large Butterfly onto the scrap of card and emboss using sparkle embossing powder. Carefully cut out the butterfly.

  6. Stamp the text onto copier paper using the VersaFine ink. Tear out the text remembering to turn the paper and tear all sides in the same direction.
  7. Dab the Clover ink onto the non stick mat. Lay the card flat on a clean area of the card and using the foam pad or cosmetic sponge work ink in a circular motion from the mat onto the card, going over the Clover and the Butterflies. Once the front of the card is covered leave to dry for a little while. Do not worry if colouring is not even - it isn't meant to be.
  8. Without using any more ink, rub the foam pad or sponge lightly over the text, making sure the torn edges are coloured too and then screw up the text in your hand. Carefully smooth flat and screw it up again. Carefully smooth it out once more. Now go and wash your hands!
  9. Stick the text at an angle onto front of card with double-sided tape. Apply sticky foam pads to butterfly and attach to card so that it is partly on the text. Remove the Post It notes and fold the card. Tie ribbon to left-hand side of card.
