Time themes are really popular and cards made with this in mind are perfect for men as well as for the ladies!
Â
I tied these projects together with a simple colour theme of black, white and metallic.
Mosaic Card

We used:
- Artifacts stamps used:
Times Past – G031 Fob Watch – E031 Time in Motion – E033 Pocket Watch – E032
- Square White Card Blank
- White Card
- Black Sparkly Card
- Bronze Paper
- Clear Embossing Powder
- VersaMark Ink Pad
- Background Stamp of your choice
- Metallic Alcohol Inks
- Stick-on Numbers
- Black Stick-on Gem
- Stamp Cleaner
- Heat Tool
- Glue or Double-sided Tape
- Foam Tape
Step by Step:
Start by making your own patterned background:
- In black ink, stamp all three Watch stamps multiple times across a piece of white card, using masks to overlap them.
- Take a background stamp (I used a coordinating one with clocks and butterflies, but just a plain texture would work). Stamp in VersaMark ink all over the previously stamped card and emboss in clear powder. The original stamps should show through, but the other areas will have a resist pattern.

- Use gold, silver and bronze Alcohol Inks dabbed randomly across the card. Then gently wipe over the surface with stamp cleaner to bring out the white of the embossed pattern.
- Take a square white card blank. Cut a piece of bronze paper so that it is slightly smaller than the card blank and stick it on. Also cut a piece of scrap paper the same size as the bronze paper to make the template.
- To make the template - take your square of scrap paper and divide it up randomly with straight lines, into about 6 sections. Draw about 1cm within the lines of each section and cut out the resulting pieces, making sure you know how to reassemble them.
- Then cut these shapes out from your patterned background. Back each onto sparkly black card with about ½ cm showing around the edge. Then reassemble into the original square shape onto the bronze paper and stick down.
- Use black stick-on numbers from 1 to 12 and place randomly across the card
Tip: if you don’t have black numbers, use any other colour and go over them with a black permanent marker before peeling them off.
- Cut out one full clock face from your patterned background, stick a black gem in the centre and attach to the front of the card with foam tape.
Retirement Pocket Watch Card

We used:
- Artifacts stamps used:
Times Past – G031 Fob Watch – E031 Time in Motion – E033 Pocket Watch – E032
- Square White Card Blank
- Black Card
- ArtEmboss Aluminium Sheet
- Silver Embossing powder
- Clear Embossing Powder
- Silver Ink Pad
- Black Ink Pad
- Metallic Elastic Thread
- Small Beads
- Embossing Stylus Tool
- Congratulations Sticker/Peel Off
- Heat Tool
- Glue or Double-sided Tape
Step by Step:
- Stamp the Times Past stamp onto black card in silver ink and emboss with silver powder. Cut out leaving a narrow margin.
- Stamp the Time in Motion and Fob Watch onto the aluminium in black ink and emboss in clear powder.
- Stamp the clock face again, masking the central part so that only the edges show. This will be the front of the closed pocket watch.
- Cut out the stamps from the aluminium and use an embossing stylus tool to highlight the design and add depth. Engrave the initials of the recipient onto the front of the pocket watch.
- Cut a piece of black card about 8 x 18cm and fold into thirds so that the first panel opens to the left and the second to the right, with the central panel at the back.

- Stick the Time in Motion piece to this central panel, the clock face on the one that opens to the right and the pocket watch cover at the front. Write your message on the blank opened out panels.

- Fasten the folded booklet with the elastic thread strung with five beads.
- Stick the silver embossed panel, the booklet and the Congratulations sticker to the card as shown.
Timepiece Key Ring

We used:
- Artifacts stamps used:
Times Past – G031 Fob Watch – E031 Time in Motion – E033
- White Paper
- Gold Alcohol Ink
- Black Ink Pad
- Frosted Shrink Plastic
- Key ring
- Silver Wide-link Chain
- Jewellery Pliers
- Mother of Pearl Disc
- Bottle Caps
- Gesso
- Glossy Accents
- Coloured Pencils
- Circle Punch to fit inside of bottle cap
- Crop-A-Dile
- Heat Tool
Step by Step:
For the bottle tops:
- As I was using old bottle caps, I covered the outside with a few coats of gesso and then coloured them with the gold Alcohol Ink, but if you have new bottle caps or don’t mind the logos showing you don’t have to do this. Use a Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole near the edge to fasten the chain to.
- Stamp the Time in Motion image in black ink onto white paper and punch out a circle to fit the inside of the bottle top. Stick the circle inside and cover with a coat of Glossy Accents. Repeat for the second bottle cap.
For the clock charms:
- Stamp the Fob Watch onto frosted shrink plastic. Colour with pencils, white for the centre, going carefully around the numbers, and yellow and brown to give a gold effect around the edge and handle.
- Cut out the clock and punch a hole in the middle of the handle, then shrink using a heat tool. Repeat for the other two charms.
To assemble:
- Using jewellery pliers to open the chain links where necessary, take about 10cm of chain and fasten the key ring on one end and the mother of pearl disc (or bead of your choice) on the other end. Attach a short length of chain (just a few centimetres) to each of the bottle tops and each clock charm. Fasten these to the main chain at intervals.
Thank you to Beth for her fabulous cards.
The finished pieces!
