Time to Spare 1
by Mickie Sutcliffe

We sent these stamps to Mickie to see what she could come up with and she has done us really proud! Mickie has created three really lovely and quite different cards using these stamps. We are sure you’ll just love these gorgeous cards!

Carpe Diem

Time to Spare 3

We used:

Step by Step:

  1. Fold acetate in half to make a portrait card. Score the fold with a bone folder to give a nice sharp crease.
  2. Cut the coloured card so that it is 0.5cm narrower all round than the folded acetate. Using Spray Mount, stick it to the inside back of the acetate card.
  3. NB Spray Mount should only be used in a well-ventilated area.

  4. Stamp the Pocket Watch onto a scrap of white card using VersaFine ink, emboss and carefully cut out.
  5. Stamp Times Past onto heavyweight paper and cut out.
  6. For the wording you will need a PC (or your best handwriting!).
  7. Create a text box approximately 35 x 6mm and using a font of your choice and in a colour to match your inkpad, type "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Leave a couple of lines and then type: Learn as if you want to live forever" Mahatma Ghandi.
  8. Carpe Diem was done in the same way and cut out to form a square.

    Time to Spare 3
  9. Cut the text box out just slightly inside the lines, then cut out "Learn as if"…. as shown in picture. Trim the bottom of "Live as if" so that when placed directly on top of "Learn as if", Mahatma Ghandi can still be seen. Now adhere "Learn as if" to top left of coloured card, about 0.5cm from edges.
  10. Adhere Time Past about 1cm in from left hand edge of coloured card. Then spray the front of "Life as if" and stick to the inside front of the acetate card so that when closed it will appear as that is all the quote.
  11. Spray the back of "Carpe Diem" and adhere it to the bottom left of the front of the acetate card as shown and finally, adhere the Pocket Watch to the front of the acetate card.

Easel Card

Time to Spare 5

This card is unusual in the way the it stands up rather like an easel.

We used:

Step by Step:

  1. To make the easel simply fold back the front of the A6 card, so the opening edge touches the spine of the card.
  2. Brayer the Fiesta colour onto the cream card going left to right and top to bottom until you are happy with the depth of colour.
  3. Then cut a piece of the A5 cream card to very slightly smaller than A6. This will make the card front. Cut a Post-It note so that it measures 11.5cm in width. Centre the Post-It on the brayered card front and stamp Times Past along the middle of one long edge, using the Fiesta ink pad. Then ink up and stamp it again along the top and bottom edges and finally the remaining long side of the card. Remove the Post-It and using the orange coloured pencil and a ruler, lightly draw a line along the inner edge of the stamping and the outer edge of the stamping for definition. Leave to dry.
  4. Once ink is completely dry, stamp and emboss the Pocket Watch once in the centre of this piece of card.
  5. Stamp the Times Past once on to the remaining card and cut out. You only need to stamp half the width of the Times Past stamp along one long edge. Then stamp and emboss the Pocket Watch twice, cut out and using sticky pads, stick one either side of the Pocket Watch on the front piece as shown.
  6. Stick the decorated piece onto the front flap of the original card.
  7. Lastly, using sticky pads, stick the Times Past strip just over half way along the inside back of the card. This will form the "stop" which will hold the front of the card in place when open.

Old Timer

Time to Spare 8

We used:

Step by Step:

  1. Ink up Times Past with VersaMark and stamp onto left hand side of card. Apply Perfect Pearls and then spray lightly with hairspray. Repeat with the Pocket Watch and scrap of card, then cut out carefully. Make a hole in the watch hanger to feed chain through but be careful not to cut the hanger.
  2. Mask the stamped Times Past image with Post-It Notes and then mask the card itself with more Post-Its to create a small frame around the edge of the image. Take the VersaColor ink pad and rub it all round the "frame" and then apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss. This may come out perfect, which is fine. Mine came out quite "crinkly" and I liked the look, so didn't strive for perfection.
  3. Edge the whole of the front of the card with Copper VersaColor ink pad. Then carefully thread the Figaro chain through the watch hanger. Using sticky pads affix the Pocket Watch so that it covers the appropriate image on the time stamp.
  4. Make a small hole in the top left-hand corner of the card and fix the one end of the Figaro chain to the card using a brad and do the same at the opposite corner. Tuck the chain around the back of the Pocket Watch image.

Three great cards that are perfect for so many different occasions!

Thank you Mickie.

The finished pieces!
