Itβs always fun to try a different fold for a card and this Diamond Fold is no exception.
Β
I have done this one using earthy colours, which seemed to work well with the Tribal Marks stamps I wanted to use. It makes for a great male card.
Play with the colours and the images used and this same fold will look great in florals and pastel shades, perfect for a lady friend. Use some of the fun younger style of stamps and itβs perfect for children.
We used:
Step by Step:
- Cut the brown card to measure 14.8 x 29.5cm. With the short edges at the top and bottom, draw a horizontal line across at 7.4cm from the top, then score a line at 14.8cm from the top. Draw another line at 22.2cm from the top.
- Using a bone folder, score a diagonal line from the left hand edge of the 7.4cm pencil line to the right hand edge of the 22.2cm score line. Score a second diagonal line from the right of the 7.4cm pencil line to the left of the score line.

- Make a small pencil mark in the centre of the top edge of this main brown card. Draw a diagonal line from this to the left side of the 7.4cm pencil line. Draw another line from the top centre mark to the right side of the 7.4cm line. Cut along these two lines to make a point at the top of the card.
- Mountain fold along the diagonal score lines, crease well with a bone folder, then open out again.

- Put your thumb and forefingers at either side of the lower horizontal line and place your middle fingers beneath the diagonal lines. Carefully pinch your thumb and fingers together, so that the diagonal lines make a mountain fold. Doing this will make the card spring up at the top. As this happens, remove your forefingers and make a fold along the lower line. This will make the basic diamond shape card. Squeeze all the fold lines so that the card stands up.
To decorate the base of the card:
- Cut a piece of terra cotta card to measure 14 x 6.5cm and use double-sided tape to attach it to the oblong base of the card. Layer a piece of brown card on top of this, leaving a narrow border all round.
- Cut a piece of white card to measure 12.5 x 5cm and sponge it with a mixture of the Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold inks.

- Use the Vintage Photo ink pad to stamp the birthday greeting in the lower right hand corner and the other ink pads to randomly stamp some of the Tribal Marks. Attach this to the layers on the base of the card.
To decorate the diamond part of the card:
- Sponge the Magenta Mozaic sheet with a mixture of the Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold inks. Use all three ink pads and the Tribal Marks and Dotty Wisp stamps to stamp at random over the sponged squares on the sheet.

- Cut a piece of brown card and attach 9 decorated Mozaics to it leaving a very narrow strip in between each one. It is important to attach them in the same position as they were when you decorated them. Layer this onto terra cotta card, leaving a border all round. Attach this panel to the front of the diamond part of the card.
- Lastly, use adhesive to fix the underside of the diamond shape to the decorated oblong base of the card (the bit with the greeting on it!) as this will allow the card to stand up properly.
There are lots of possibilities with this card and I am sure you will have no end of fun with it!
The finished piece!
