Konnichi Wa 1
Konnichi Wa 2
by Jane Pinder

Niece, Stef, designed the pretty plate of stamps that go with this issue of Guilded. This lovely Oriental plate will be very useful we are sure.

The tiny elements have been designed so that they are the perfect size to enable you to decorate Miss Miyuki’s kimono with them. They have other uses as well as you will find out in the other projects using them.

Miyuki was the ideal name for this Japanese lady as Stef designed them when she was stuck here in the heavy snowfall earlier in the year. Miyuki means deep or beautiful snow! So as you can see it was the only choice for the name!

We have kept the projects quite simple this time round and this first one makes for quite an unusual card.

This first project uses one of the new mini album templates and some of the wonderful Shadow Gel pens. These pens have a metallic ink in them and a vibrant colour as well which gives a beautiful, almost two-tone finish.

**N.B. To order these wonderful pens, please call The Stamp Bug Ltd on 01285 750308.

We used:

Step by Step:

Konnichi Wa 3

  1. Start by drawing round and through the heart mini album template using a pencil and the pearlescent purple card. Cut out the shape, following the instructions with the template.
  2. Make the various valley and mountain folds, as per instructions on the packaging of the template.

  3. Use the template again, this time to cut a heart shape from the pale purple card.

    Konnichi Wa 5
  4. Select a sheet of paper from the Sparkly Sweet 6 x 6 pad and stamp various some of the larger elements that are from the plate of stamps, using the black ink pad. Once dry, cut out the pieces.

    Konnichi Wa 5
  5. Use the two daisy punches to punch out shapes from the same sheet of the Sparkly Sweet paper.

    Konnichi Wa 6
  6. Use the black ink pad to stamp out Miss Miyuki onto white card. Allow the ink to dry, then colour her in using the gorgeous Shadow Gel pens.

    Konnichi Wa 6
  7. Trim around her and then mount onto gold card, then trim again to leave a narrow border all round.

    Konnichi Wa 7
  8. Now to put it all together! Layer the pale purple heart onto the section of the main card that has the tab on it. Add the layered Miss Miyuki and the fans and the Oriental writing that says Konnichi Wa or Hello.
  9. Use the other elements to decorate the other pages. Layer some of the stamped flowers onto the larger punched out daisies and attach the to the card using a gold brad.
  10. Add your handwritten greeting and message and your unusual card is ready to go!

The finished pieces!
