By Felicity Goodwin The cards and tag that make up this project came into being after an Internet search into order and chaos for some inspiration and I found a couple of quotes that I really like and this started off a train of thought. I have used a layered stamping technique I developed a little while ago which is in itself a little chaotic but I think it works perfectly with the Complex Creations stamps. It¹s also great, as the stamping doesn¹t have to be perfect to look good. There are also a couple of bonus techniques for you to try. I have quite a lot of pressed flowers in my craft cupboard and the pretty heart on one of the cards came about as a result of this.
I have also included a technique to make your own textured metallic flowers, which Penny is partly responsible for as I loved her metal flowers, but didn¹t have any metal and decided to improvise. To Make the Layered Stamping Paper You Will Need:
- Glossy Photo Paper or Card, or Plain Card
- Ink Pads - Dye or Pigment in 3 Colours
Step by Step: - Cut a piece of card or paper to the required size and stamp your chosen design all over in the lightest colour of ink. Don¹t worry if any images don¹t stamp completely as it will not show in the finished piece.
 - Next stamp the medium colour of ink on with the same stamp, at random on top of the first images but a little further apart.
 - Finally, stamp on a few images with the darkest ink colour. You don¹t want too many, just enough to pull your piece of decorated paper together.
To Make The Metallic 3D Flowers You Will Need: Step by Step: - Punch out a flower and emboss in the Cuttlebug folder.
 - Cover the side with the raised pattern in embossing ink and emboss with metallic powder. You will probably need to do this twice for a good covering.
 - Flip the flower over and place on the foam mat. Rub gently on each petal in a circular motion until the petal curls up.
- When all the petals are done, turn the flower over and pull each petal up slightly. You will now have a 3D metallic flower.
A Woman¹s Heart We used: Step by Step: - Cut a 15cm square of cream card and stamp the Script panel all over in rows with the Aged Mahogany ink. Stamp one of the Complex designs over the top in Spiced Marmalade. When dry, rub Antique Linen ink all over and tear all the edges.
- Stamp the Complex Creation saying all over the luggage tag in Spiced Marmalade ink and then run through the Cuttlebug machine using the Textile Folder. Rub Aged Mahogany ink over the raised areas and around the edges.
 - Make a paper heart template and use to cut out a dark red card heart shape, Glue flower petals all over and let dry. Then trim the petals that protrude over the edges of the heart shape.
- Cut a further heart shape from cream card and stamp on a Complex image pattern in embossing ink. Emboss with copper powder. Sponge the heart with Spiced Marmalade and Aged Mahogany inks and ink the edges with the darker ink.
 - Make a metallic flower as described using the copper embossing powder. Make a further flower in purple card, omitting the Cuttlebug embossing stage and just use the plain card as it is. Layer the flowers as shown and stick the purple jewel in the centre.
 - Stamp the Complex Creation saying on white card in black dye ink and cut out. Run the black ink round the edges of each word.
 - Generate the remaining words on the computer and print out on white card in black ink. Cut each word out separately.
- I have used a vintage family photo printed on an inkjet transparency sheet, fixed on cream card and added gold photo corners. A stamped image in sepia ink would work just as well.
- To finish the card, assemble all the pieces as shown in the photograph using double sided tape and a little foam tape in places for added depth.
Order And Chaos We used: Step by Step - I have used Tesco Value 6 x 4 glossy photo paper as it¹s really cheap and great for stamping on. Using the three colours of Distress ink and starting with Mustard Seed ink, make a piece of the decorated layer stamped paper.
- Cut a piece of cream card to measure 10 x 15cm and emboss with the Cuttlebug Script folder. Rub the raised areas with Aged Mahogany ink and then sponge on Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade inks. Ink all the edges except the left hand side with the Aged Mahogany ink.
- Stamp one of the Complex images all over the buff tag in Spiced Marmalade ink and then stamp on the Complex Creation saying in Aged Mahogany ink. Stagger the stamping as you go so that it read complex creation across as well as down in some places. Crumple the tag and tear off the bottom. Ink the string and knot at the top.
 - Make a large and a medium metallic daisy as described before and rub a little purple paint on the large flower. Stick the flowers together with double-sided tape and stick to the purple fabric or paper flower.
 - Generate the saying on a computer and print on white card in black ink. Cut out as shown. Stick to the lower half of the crumpled tag.
- To assemble the card, stick the script panel on first, followed by the glossy panel (you may need to trim this a little). Stick on the tag using tape just near the top and bottom to maintain the crumpled effect. You will need to use glue for the flower as I tried tape and it fell off overnight.
Part Two of this gorgeous project will follow on in the next issue of Guilded!
