Tis the Season 1

Quick cards with a bit of a difference! The first one features some metal work, while the second uses metallic embossing and metallic card. The projects are finished off with a lovely, colourful ATC.

We used:

Tis the Season

Step by Step:

Tis the Season 3
  1. Using the black StazOn ink pad stamp the Starry Christmas Tree onto the copper metal.
  2. If you don’t have the necessary metal work tools you can substitute other items - i.e. an orange stick for embossing and a selection of mats, one soft, one not so soft and one hard. I use a selection of mouse mats.
  3. Using a nylon pointed tool (or similar) emboss all the outlines. Turn over onto a soft mat and with a paper stub work the inside of the tree until it is in relief when viewed from the front.
  4. Do the same with the stars. Remove copper colouring from the stars.
  5. Colour the tree with the Alcohol Ink.

    Tis the Season 3
  6. Work a border around the entire picture using a pattern wheel or cocktail stick, then cut it out and adhere to heavy duty sticky foam tape. Leave the backing on the tape at this stage.
  7. Stamp ‘Tis the Season onto another piece of the metal and cut out to a 2 x 8cm oblong. Work a border as for tree picture and apply to heavy duty tape as before.
  8. Emboss the front of an A6 card with the Cuttlebug folder and lightly rub the copper ink pad over the surface. Work the pad over the edges of the card to distress slightly.
  9. Stick the metal panels on to the card.

Welcoming Windows:

Tis the Season 5
  1. Using VersaMark ink pad and gold embossing powder stamp and emboss the Holly Sprig randomly over the A6 card blank.
  2. Then stamp and gold emboss La Maison centrally on to some green card. Trim this to a panel measuring 9.5 x 7cm.
  3. Using a green metallic pencil, colour in all the windows.
  4. Mount the green house panel onto mirri card and cut leaving a border all round. Mount onto the card front.

N.B. The house with the lighted windows would look good on any dark coloured card.

Tis the Season ATC

Tis the Season 6

We have shown you just the one ATC, but it is easy enough to make several either the same or similar.

We used:

Step by Step:

  1. Using the green ink pad, stamp the Holly Sprig randomly all over the cream card.
  2. Dab and slide the red ink randomly all over the card using a cosmetic sponge.
  3. To make the berries pop out more, colour them in using the red colouring pencil, even if they fall into a red inked part of the card. The pencil colouring in makes them shine.
  4. At this point I cut the card to make 4 ATCs, measuring the statutory 2.5 x 3.5 inches or 64 x 89 mm. Edge each one with the green metallic marker.
  5. Stamp and emboss ‘Tis the season four times onto cream card scraps using VersaMark ink and gold embossing powder. Cut out and edge with green metallic marker.
  6. Stick at an angle across the ATCs.
  7. Punch out four larger flower shapes from red card scraps and four small flower shapes from gold card.
  8. "Paint" the red flowers with Glossy Accents and whilst still wet add the gold flower as a centre. Leave to dry.
  9. When dry, accent edges of red petals and centre of gold flower with gold glitter glue. Leave to dry.
  10. Punch eight leaves out of green card and draw on veins, using the fine tip of the brown Le Plume pen.
  11. Stick a leaf either side of each flower and adhere to ATCs.
  12. Finally stick a gold and a red die cut Christmas tree on each ATC.

Perfect for Christmas ATC swaps!

avatar I love the metal work Mickie (well all of it really but you know what I mean!).
I'm inspired to get some tools and give it a go. I love the 3d look of it all
and the colours on the metal are lovely.

Do give it a go Jennie, there is
something soothing about working with metal I find.
